Energy & Telecommunications: Consulting, Solutions, Public Policy
Overview
AMR Strategies LLC was founded to help clients develop strategies for the smart grid and operational infrastructure that will meet business goals to:
Improve service
Introduce new services
Operate with excellence
AMR Strategies employs a holistic methodology to help ensure that your company maximizes its investments in new technologies. We first consider your business needs in light of changing business environments, markets, services, regulations, competition, and technology directions. We then evaluate and select new technologies and develop implementation plans to introduce them into your existing infrastructures. Finally, we provide new or revised operational processes and recommend operational support systems to maximize your operational efficiencies.
Consulting Services
A typical engagement for developing your vision and evolution strategy might include:
Assessment of existing grid and operational infrastructures with respect to meeting business goals.
Creation of future scenarios, if needed, for investment decisions that manage risk.
Formulation of a vision of the future smart grid and operational infrastructures, including functionality of elements, interfaces and protocols, communications and information technologies, and applications.
Development of migration strategies, with recommendations for near-term steps, contingency plans, and future decision points.
Creation of a project plan, with time frames and costs.
Preparation of Requests for Proposals and evaluation of responses, including financial and cost analyses.
Education Services
Dr. Lutz has created a course on the smart grid and is now teaching it to seniors and graduate students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Delaware. The course examines smart grid technologies, their applications, and the transformational impacts of the smart grid on the industry. Students learn the fundamentals of the smart grid: its purpose and objectives, its technologies, its architectures, and its applications. Students also learn the many challenges facing the smart grid as it evolves. A syllabus is attached.
